Tom Hanks and Luke Evans Join Live Action Pinocchio!

Luke Evans Join Live Action Pinocchio!

Deadline reports that actor Luke Evans has joined the rest of the cast in the live-action film Pinocchio. Evans is reportedly going to play The Coachman, one of the famous villains in the film Pinocchio. The Coachman himself likes to kidnap children on Pleasure Island, and he turns them into donkeys to sell on the black market. The character of The Coachman himself was originally played by Charles Judles.

Evans has played an antagonist several times. Examples are the character Gaston who appears in the film Beauty and the Beast, and the blood-sucking Vampire in the film Dracula Untold. Evans also became a villain in the film Furious 7. Evans also played in several big films such as Murder Mystery, The Girl on the Traine, and The Hobbit: Battle of Five Armies. Most recently, Evans will also appear in the mini series Nine Perfect Strangers along with Melissa McCartney and Nicole Kidman.

In the live action Pinocchio, Evans will compete acting with Tom Hanks. Hanks will play Gepetto, an Italian wood sculptor who created Pinocchio. The film will be directed by Robert Zemeckis, with a script also written by Zemeckis and Chris Weitz. Weitz himself wrote a remake of Cinderella in 2015. Weitz and Andrew Miano will produce the film under their production company, Depth of Field.

Even though it seems that Evans is not the right choice to portray a fat, greedy, and white-haired villain like The Coachman, it could be a sign that the film will deviate a little from the original film. Of course, this latest film is made to be enjoyed by new audiences. Until now, the release date of the film is still unknown.
