World Trigger Returns to Rest Manga Due to His Sudden Illness

The official Twitter account for Daisuke Ashihara's World Trigger manga revealed on Thursday that the manga will not appear in the magazine's March issue on February 4, due to the author's sudden illness.

The account confirms that Ashihara's disease is not a COVID-19 coronavirus disease, and adds that Ashihara is currently recovering. The manga's 23rd volume is still due out on February 4 as planned. Manga will return in the magazine's April issue on March 4.

Ashihara released the manga in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 2013. The manga has been on hiatus since November 2016 due to Ashihara's deteriorating physical health, and returned to the magazine in October 2018 for five issues before moving to Jump SQ. in December 2018. [post_ads]

Manga then took a month off earlier this year so Ashihara could recover from the bowel obstruction complications arising from her latest cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal surgery). Manga took another month off in November due to Ashihara's deteriorating physical health.

Manga previously inspired a two-cour anime adaptation in 2014 and 2015. The second season will air on January 9, 2021. The third season will air afterwards.
