Synopsis of Mashiro no Oto:

Shamisen is a traditional Japanese musical instrument similar to a guitar. The grandfather of a teenager named Sawamura Setsu, who raised him with his eldest brother named Wakana, recently died. His grandfather was one of the best Shamisen players and the two brothers grew up listening to the late's play and learning to play the instrument. Since the death of his grandfather, Setsu dropped out of high school, moved to Tokyo and moved everywhere, without knowing what he could do other than wearing his Shamisen name. It was there when his successful and wealthy mother named Umeko entered her life and tried to better educate Setsu. He put him in high school again, but without Setsu knowing, he would find his interest back in playing Shamisen.
